the moment when you think your bff is gonna meet the true-death….

I mean… SERIOUSLY?

I don’t really have an issue with this. I’m not sure that Eric’s reaction is completely attributable to “liking” Bill.  Eric is a fairly honorable vampire. We’ve seen evidence of this on several occasions.  We saw it with Bill and the Magister.  There are times when being completely opportunistic seems like the most expeditious route to achieve what he wants, but he surprises us and does something contrary because he has a sense of fairness, fair play, or whatever other label  we assign to it. It’s in that honor that Eric would not want to see someone else pay for what was, in essence, solely his decision.  He knows Bill did not agree, nor did anyone else, and Eric is surely not going to let someone else own what is rightfully his to own…even if it is Bill.  I think Eric is genuinely horrified at this thought and immediately confesses.
I mentioned this in a previous post, but this is exactly the reason why Eric would not have left Pam and Sookie to deal with Russell on their own. There had to be another plan…something that was swirling in that head of his.

You’re right, of course. I agree completely!

I think there is a glimmer of respect here too. Because they both turned down the chance to confess when their interrogators lied to them about the other one being let free etc. Bill might have known Eric would resist that incentive, but it could easily have gone 50/50 with Bill letting his interrogator’s quip break down his resolve. They have become allies out of necessity, but still, they are the only two people in that room that can remotely rely on each other. Even if it’s only for the sake of Sookie.
