He tries so hard to hide his feelings, but when he’s backed into a corner he always find a way to protect her.  So many signs interspersed throughout the seasons, but those signs escalated in Season 3 as things began to spiral out of control and the luxury of hiding behind his cold veneer became more and more deliciously untenable. :)

Watching him slowly crack throughout season 3 was my favourite — it’s what I fell in love with. I think most of the viewing audience started season 4 already having totally fallen for Eric, and I think that even though Eric hadn’t told Sookie how he feels, he assumes she knows, because why else would he have done what he did? I think that when he comes to her house in the beginning of season 4, from his point of view, he’s done a lot to prove to her that he cares about her, and it’s part of what makes him so confident that she’ll come around. That and the flirty way she verbally spars with him, which he obviously finds delicious.

I really loved this about season three. I loved a whole lot of it. Except his hair. SEASON TWO HAIR COME BACK TO ME.
